I dont know if i understand you right, but i think:
in index.php and so set a smarty var like
$smarty->assign('phpself', 'index.php');
And in header.tpl

ist the function fetch not more diminisonal?
I have the following situtation, but the second fetch's dont work if I use them with the first.

But Method 2 is the way that i go now, and with method 1 i cant overget variables. |

Hmm, messju hast du nicht einen Link zu einer Plugin Erklärung, da dein Link ja zu ner Seite geführt wird, wo einem Empfohlen wird das zunutzen.
