but still, in many languagues is a practice to open a tag with a command end end a tag with end+command, not with /+command.
it would not affect neither performance (because needs only 4 ... |

hi!
i wonder, why this synax is not supported:
[if sth]do blah[endif]
it would take really no effort at all to include some case clauses into smarty compiler... |

i have one better idea. php to include about 100rows file (.tpl files are parsed into ordinary php code) takes a few miliseconds.
evaluating anything takes at least 10 times more... so (my opinion):

a) there would never be an outdated file problem, since php files would be included via native php include() function (in that vile would be any php code!)
