After having read what might possibly be every installation post there is on the forum I still hadn't figured out how to solve the

installation issue. I had tried a number of different directory structures and both local * WinXP Pro WAMP * as well as remote test installs * RedHat and Apache * and encountered the error at the outset with the demo pages that the 'templates_c' directory could not be found.
On all of the errored out installs at this point I created a 'templates_c' directory. At one point I happened to try and delete it from my ftp browser. The same account that created it could no longer retrieve the directory listing.
From ssh I had to su to root and rm -R the dir. I noticed at this point some sort of odd control characters in the directory name that may have been the fault of my ftp's create dir method. A second fresh upload of the class files and demo files and a few path changes later I had returned to the 'templates_c' not existing issue. This time from the ssh shell - as the original user not root - i created the directory and chmod'ed it as appropriate and it now appears to work fine.
Just an observation. |
