Hi
I'm new to smarty's and started to look into multilang structures when using smarty, and found so many different solutions that I'm having a hard time deciding.

I don't think I'll be going with gettext, or is it the best way to go?
is the aztek xml solution an efficient way to go ?

Like everyone I appreciate simply structured solutions, but I'm kinda lost about caching issues and precompile...etc

could someone please clear me with some experience on this. and where to find the latest code snippets cause I find bits of code in many different threads, some aren't so new.

Regards
Tibor

I'm planning to build a multi-lang website, yet it is very complicated looking through all the answers in the long post "best way to build a multi-language site with smarty". Also im not sure what is up to date and what not. As in with the lastest smarty version and so forth.

I'm new here and i have not worked with a lot of CMS's, to be precise actually ive only worked with one so far. Embarassed But im very keen on looking forward to get myself into smarty. The community seems good/helpful/friendly, ive been lurking around and reading here and there.

Anyhow my plan is to build a simple site, yet it has to be in 3 different languages and also i would be in need of a "news" system that would go/be integrated in the index. I would be building the site, yet once im done with it, id like for some one not very "knowledge" in html and not to mention php... to be able to change the news and maybe add an article here and there once a while.

Now ive also been asking myself is this possible and resonable to manage with smarty??
Would very much appreciate any help/tips or comments regarding my questions. Thanks a lot for your time if you have bothered to read this far...

ps: sorry for partly thread jacking but i thought id post here and maybe some one could answer to both of us like this. Wink

Your use case could very well be made with smarty, having one single newstxt template that someone can modify independently, and have this included through smarty in the rest of your site.

I wonder if there really is only one way of doing multilang with smarty which made me go for something a solution simple for me to install: I ended up using smarty and phpMultiLang v2.0 Classes. http://www.phpclasses.org/browse/package/2630.html
my smarty variables that I use in my pages are assigned with the phpMultiLang api (GetString, GetFSrting ...) , so translation is in the declaration part as well.
