Is there anywhere a setting, so the compiled templates do not contain the %% chars in directories ???? |

no.
AFAIR most versions of smarty don't emit %% into the filenames if you turn $use_sub_dirs = false.
what do you want to achieve by that? whats your problem with %%? |

It causes problems to delete them if one has a hosted domain.
See also http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=792316&group_id=64258&atid=506846 , I did not submit this, but I experienced the same problems. |

ah, i see. if the "%%" are the problem than the shared hosting provider has a buggy ftp-server. that's a pitty.
if the permissions are the problem:
you can use: [php:1:ea9330a379]$smarty->clear_compiled_tpl();[/php:1:ea9330a379] to delete the compiled templates. smarty created the files, so it should know best how to get rid of them.
for another solution: there was a thread at the smarty-dev-mailing-list recently (maybe this is also of interest for you):
http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=smarty-dev&m=106129987831177&w=2
i doubt the %% are the problem, but the files ownership (created by the webserver, so owned by the webserver) are the problem. it's a common problem when writing files with php that not only smarty suffers from.
