|
|
Greetings,
I just updated from 2.4.2 to 2.5.0 and all my templates that have assign tags in them blow the following error:
FATAL: [256] Smarty error: [in admin/admin.tpl line 3]: [plugin] unknown tag - 'assign' (Smarty.class.php, line 2543)
Fatal error in line 2652 of file /usr/site/pages/smarty_new/Smarty.class.php
PHP 4.3.2 (FreeBSD)
This is the line in the template:
{assign var="formname" value=""}
Yes I removed the template_c files after updating. I also looked in all the docs I could find and saw no reference to assign changing in any way. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
FreeBSD 4.8
PHP 4.3.2
Apache 1.3.27
Thanks,
Matthew |

Yes. Like I said, this is working code with 2.4.2, all I did was replace my 2.4.2 Smarty directory with the 2.5 release and delete the old template_c files. I had to switch back to 2.4.2 to get my sites working again.

strange. and you took into account that it's called Smarty-2.5.0/libs/plugins in the 2.5.0-tgz vs. Smarty-2.4.2/plugins (no libs) in the 2.4.2.tgz ??? |

Thanks, that seemed to fix it. According to the INSTALL file, step 1:
"* copy the files under the libs/ directory to a directory that is in your PHP include_path, or set the SMARTY_DIR constant and put them in this directory."
Not sure when the plugins directory was moved into the libs directory, but it seems plugins has to be copied along with the 4 other files in the libs directory. Or set the SMATRY_DIR to the libs directory works too.
I've been using Smarty for a long time, before the libs directory, and I have a lot of sites that set SMARTY_DIR. So, I always copy the 4 files in the libs directory to the main Smarty directory. I didn't realize that the plugins directory had to come with those files. When was the plugins directory moved into the libs directory? Maybe the INSTALL file should make that clear?
Thanks again,
Matthew |

the plugins directory is and was always in the same directory as Smarty.class.php. the "libs"-directory was introduced with Smarty-2.5.0 (actually with Smarty-2.5.0-RC1). the INSTALL files was updated to reflect this change. but you are right, this should have been emphasized in the release notes of 2.5.0 and in the NEWS file. it's missing in these two places. it's strange that nobody stumbled about that until now. i'll add a special note for upgrades from Versions before 2.5.0 to the INSTALL-file.
greetings
