A dla samego katalogu /home/groups/w/wx/wxeclipse/htdocs/compile też ustawiłeś? Czy tylko wewnątrz?

Może spróbuj zmienić $compile_dir...

Dzięki, sprawa już się wyjaśniła. Okazało się że na serwerach sourceforge skryptom php nie da się nadać uprawnień do tworzenia plików i katalogów Confused
