truncate news

hello, i have a news page, and i would like to truncate these news to a certain number of chars/words if needed and if the news is truncated then i want to show a "Show More" link to another page with the full news but if the news isn't truncated then i don't want to show it, any idea on how i can do this? Thanks

Pass your "show more" text as the second parameter to truncate. If you need something more dynamic, a custom function may be in order.
