Can someone please explain to me why I have to use SESSION variables in my php if it is included with in my template? Regular variables do not display.

I also notice my objects are unavaiable in Smarty. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? I know that I must use $this for access teh Smarty object what about my other initialized classes?
