I have used Smarty before, can't remember which version. I left it and PHP for a while. Anyway, now I am back at it and I am having a small problem. I am running Smarty 2.6.2, PHP 4.3.4 and Apache 2.0.48 on Windows XP.

Anyway, when I have php files in the root of my web app and tpl files in the root of my templates directory, everything works fine. But when I put files in Subfolders, I get the "Unable to read Resource" error message.

I have a test.php in a user folder. And I have test.tpl in /templates/user folder.

Like I said, in the root it works. In subfolders it does not. Any ideas?

Thanks a bunch.

I thought I found the solution. I looked at my Smarty.class.php file and noticed that use_sub_dir was set to false. I changed that to true and made sure my php.ini had safe_mode turned off.

But it still isn't working.

After more reading I realized the use_sub_dir really has nothing to do with my problem.

Not enough info, show your directory/file layout, php script(s) that launch smarty and the exact error messages.

Are there any open basedir restrictions in place?
And does this only happen with smarty, or with any php file in any subdir?

You should check the used paths, the permissions and see if error reporting E_ALL reports anything in such a case.
