Hey, thanks for the code. A pretty good solution, but doesn't really solve any of the original problems I was facing:
- To specify the base template: you either have to have an *additional* template file just to do this, or you could specify it in the PHP file but i don't want presentation stuff there. (of course, your alternative is the "one file" approach; but I'm not that keen on having an entire files contents in one variable).
- There's still only one block of data. Again, unless its all in the same file, you have a problem specifying additional headers unless you do it in the 'extra' file.
I think, for me, I'm still going to use the include-header, include-footer approach; it just seems slightly cleaner. I can still have a {header} {/header} block which isnt really the end of the world (I'd rather have a few lines in a variable than a whole page which could include a number of expansions) and I can still set the template name before the include.
Still, some good work. Maybe add support for a {header} block for future expansion. Or maybe, blocks with names, so you can do stuff like {baseblock name=left_column} etc, could actually be quite cool
Thanks guys.
(Of course, considering that scripts are compiled, theres no real loss with having massive variables... I'm just not that keen on the idea.) |

Hi, thanks for the feedback! I will continue to add new functions as I need them (or anyone of you requests them) and your suggestions are not bad at all
Anyway I have put up the current "release" v0.1 on SourceForge http://sourceforge.net/projects/smartbase/
Please feel free to give me your comments, ideas etc. They are very much welcomed.
See you when I see you!

If I find out that people are interested in me releasing it as Open Source (GPL) i will consider it. In the mean time be gentle
This is a very temporary download URL. When/If it changes I will post the new link here.

This sounds quite interesting - are there any examples for its usage?
e.g. the mentioned multiform feature? |
