Up until about 14 months ago, we were using the open source CMS PHP-Fusion.
Altough we loved the simplicity and the power of this CMS from a users point of view, from a developers point of view it was a nightmare, with PHP code and HTML so entwined that changing the layout of a page was a pain in the b*t, and took a lot of effort.
We were about to switch to another CMS, when one of our developers stumbled upon Smarty (triggered by a question from another PHP-Fusion user). After checking it out, the decision was easy. We took the PHP-Fusion code, and completely rewrote it, optimizing it for Smarty. We also used Smarty to create a very flexible theming engine.
Now, coders and webdesigners can do 'their thing' without bothering each other, it is very easy to make changes to existing functionality, or add something new, and productivity is soaring!
Thanks for such a wonderful product!!!
