I am a beginner who needs to edit some files. I understand that Smarty is a shortcut way to clean up your code. You type the long and ugly code somewhere and recall it in a short version by starting something with $. Input - output sort of thing.

My question is, where do I go to change the actual code of the $ files themselves.

I'd have something that includes $file to call a specific command, but where do I actually go to alter it?

I'm been frustrated these past few days. I am trying to change the number of maximum tables to display and I'm staring at the specific smarty $ code, but have no clue where to go to actually change the HTML.

Help?!

Smarty code is in a template file so something.tpl
It could be stored anywhere so ask your developer where the directory is.
To change actual php you will need the developer to do it(or if that is yourself you will need to)

It goes over the very basics really well.
