I am the web developer for a small marketing company in the UK.
We recently won a tender to redesign a popular student accommodation site.
www.mainstaystudent.co.uk
I looked around for templating/caching engines and my research into them concluded that smarty was by far the best engine to use.
Well now the site has been up for 6 months and has had over 1 Million hits.
By tweaking the caching in smarty I am able to keep the site alive and fast all this time. (The site has alot of images so I needed to make sure the backend was not slowing it down).
I have used the following on mainstaystudent:
mysql for database storage
php5 for the application/business logic
smarty for the templating and caching
xhtml strict for the semantics
100% CSS (no tables ) for design and layout positioning
mootools for the javascript framework to add interactive ajax and animations
I want to just say that I am very happy with smarty and it is an invaluable tool for me.
Thanks to all the developers and contributers who made this sweet engine! |
