Any help would be greatly appropriated.

It looks like that the editor you have used to create the config file did create a BOM (byte order mask). You should save the config file with BOM's disabled.

I have been using Smarty 2 without any problems. Could you tell me where does the default config file is located? |

Hey,
I tried again by chainging the file to ASCII and removing the BOM.
Still the following error :
