I've recently been hacking smarty so that it auto generates the <head> element of a HTML page. Is there a possibility that we could get this as an official part of smarty?

Having a auto generated <head> means that all you need to do is create the <body>.

The auto generated <head> can be provided with the title, style links, scripts, meta data etc....

typically you would create a header or layout template that includes your customized <head> content, etc. still dont' see how you gain anything by generating it.
