While migrating from smarty 2 to 3 I ran into an issue relating to use of the string_format plugin. I was a bit mystified to find it named as a 'modifiercompiler' plugin when the source of the plugin (at least in 3.1.7) refers to it as a modifier in several places. I understand the difference between the two (and can see that it's a useful distinction), but it would help if this plugin type was at least mentioned in the docs!

Yes a couple of the standard modifiers produce now compiled inline code for better performance. The compiled code is produced now by the new plugin type modifiercompiler. Thanks for the hint to update documentation for this new plugin type.
