In the thread
http://www.smarty.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=23280
was said that nocache is not subject to the structured block checking, because in some cases this behaviour can be used to expand and cache static config variables, keeping dynamic the few variables needed. I noticed that in smarty version 3.1.16 this is not true anymore and I can't see any reporting in release notes or changelog of this different behaviour. Would you please have a check?

Nesting checking on {nocache} has slipped in in 3.1.15.
It's now again removed in the SVN trunk version.
This fix will later be included in 3.1.17
