Currently, if you put {if} in your template, without {/if}, smarty compiles it into a php file, which then has a compile error. Maybe if smarty could check that the template has closed all it's loops, and if not, write to the template a custom error message from a template ( error.tpl? )
Becasue you can't easily catch compile errors in php, if you let other people edit the templates, the error page is ugly, and not very helpful.
It should instead say, in a nice template provided by error.tpl :
unclosed {if} on line 40 of mypage.tpl |
