I am about to embark on a mission to develop a install wizard for Smarty. Has anyone done this or posted any information on it? Any ideas? _________________ Success to all! |

Clay Loveless has a (outdated) Smarty package in his pearified.com channel and I hear that Gallery2 has a nice installer.
The thing about an installer: how would you target it? There are differences for server-wide and bundled installs. |

What I am looking to do, is to build a cms and an enterprise management system. I plan on creating a development site and a VOip network. The development site will host downloads of the cms and ems systems. When my sales guys find a client, they will be able to download the cms and ems from the site and have programmers available via real time, to help with the design/development of their client's site. Hence, I need a cms and ems, based on smarty, that has a fairly simple download. I know there is a difference between a hosting site and a private server as far as the Smarty is concerned. Is it possible to get a wizard for just the hosting site under public_html _________________ Success to all! |

I don't see why not. There is not much to do other than copy over the library and setup some directories and options. All that can be scripted. To that end, several applications that use Smarty also implement installers. I mentioned Gallery2 and if I recall one of the popular CMS' (maybe xoops?) also does. Might be worth your time to see how they do it.
Good luck! |
