|
|
I envision a plugin that would use or extend SmartyValidate validator bindings to generate the javascript to perform client-side validation.
It would build an array of fields to check using analogous js validator functions and display the error messages already described by the validate tags.
I think what would be key is flexibility in error presentation.
From an aesthetics point-of-view alert()s are an inferior method of conveying the problem -- it seems most client-side validation plugins take this route.
When a validation error occurs I'd like the ability to..
- apply a css class to the field in question
- select the field
- modify class of a generic error message div
- be able to modify the text of that message (i.e. append error message to it)
Of course several other options will be involved.
Basically I want a flexible, x-browser, dhtml-oriented, client-side validation plugin that compliments if not extends SmartyValidate.
I don't think such a plugin would be unreasonable or especially difficult to create and of great contribution to Smarty users.
Anyone interested taking this on?
I'm fairly busy but I be happy to take time to contribute to this.
Thanks!
