If you want a freeware (not FOSS, unfortunately) editor for windows, I can recommend www.pspad.com (also works under wine). It now comes with a Smarty syntax highlighter (not perfect though) which I contributed. It is actually a great little editor IMO and has many IDE features and is quite fast.

If you aren't concerned about speed, you might try eclipse with the PHPEclipse add-on -- it is Java so it works anywhere (theoretically) and also has a built-in Smarty mode.

If you are looking for wysiwyg or commercial -- I don't know.

The PHP Designer 2005 is a bit buggy for my taste. It has many great features though.

These days I usualy use the Weaverslave..
Great tool but it lacks of a project-manager :-/

I guess I'll try Eclipse now Very Happy
