PHP5beta1 seems to be more strict about of alot of things namely

[php:1:ffa4e84ade]<?php
$func = 'test';
$func(1);
?>[/php:1:ffa4e84ade]

doesn't work anymore so I wrote up a quick patch http://fusion.dyn.ee/smarty-php5.patch

hmm, it seems to work okay with my PHP/5.0.0b1 . it only works on user-defined functions or on built-in functions. it does not work language-constructs like print, require, eval, echo, isset...

ah, i see. i didn't try 5.0.0b1 with Smarty-2.5.0 only with the cvs-version where the generated function-call looks different.
