|
|
I'm using DZSoft's PHP Editor.
This editor has two strong points
- good at PHP (e.g. automatically adds colour to the text)
- able to run PHP directly from the editor, so good for testing
but it is not tuned for Smarty templates
- no help with HTML (there is a separate product from DZSoft for this)
- doesn't recognise template syntax (e.g. can't colour the text)
Does anyone have the 'ideal' solution? |

I am using the Context editor (http://www.fixedsys.com/context) and I have
written a simple syntax highlighter for Smarty as well. As for myself I have
never run PHP from inside any editor. I have also created some simple
shortcuts for some of the most important HTML/PHP functions.
If anybody is using Context the highlighter can be found at:

Ultraedit (www.ultraedit.com) works very well with smarty tags - there is a sytax text file to download aswell that highlights all the importnat smarty stuff _________________ php scripting :: database development :: web design

i use gnu emacs, but i didn't find a smarty-mode for it yet so i use php-mode which hilights quite okay but auto-indents nonsense (which doesn't make me wonder, of course).
does anyone know a smarty-mode for emacs or a mode for a language that is like smarty so it can be extended/modified to suite smarty? |

Vim also has at least one Smarty mode if you are a vi type of guy. [There is another here and I am sure that more are available if you google for it.]
I find it a bit slow, but jEdit has a user contributed Smarty edit mode.
I seem to vaguely recall Katana doing something about getting the really nice (and now QPL'd) PHPEdit to support Smarty, but my memory fails me on the details and the outcome.
EDIT: Also see: http://smarty.php.net/contribs/syntax_highlighting/
