Hello, I just wanted to let you know I got the sample owl image saved to my computers 2 diff ways in about 1 sec one way and 30 sec the other.
First way: screen shot. It did not add a watermark.
Second way: save flash file and convert to image. Easy.
I think you should rethink your product. Sorry. |

Thanks for your comments.
1. However, there is no perfect solution for screen shot capture. I think everybody knows this. So it's not a disadvantage of imgowl. I've mention this in document. you can add watermark to protect your images.
2. Have you try to download the swf and convert it to image?
If yes. Please let me know how to? If no yet. Please try it.I don't think so.
Thanks. _________________ Joey

its possible:

works like a charm. I think its better to add a watermark using php/gd. |

On linux, the swftools suite also allows you to extract any frame from any flash file... |

It's a great idea. It won't stop the hacker, they'll get it anyhow. But for 99% of the non-technical people out there: it does help.
You may want to do a quick/easy integration package into gallery (http://gallery.menalto.com). Lots of people are using it and perhaps expand your customer base. Perhaps reducing the price for the reg'ed version.
I haven't install it yet but my concern is:
- How to you let the search engines download/index the images ? I understand some ppl may get things from the cache. But lots of ppl are doing img search these days and I don't want to lose them if google is unable to index the images.

I've updated my IMGOWL to version 2.0 and released now.
And I create the other product to generate slideshow.
Please download them. ithey're impressive.
SlideCrab is a flash slideshow generator to make animated photo rotation for website. It can transforms your photo collection to Macromedia Flash file format(SWF) which you can share your memorial moments with your family or friends on your own homepage or website. With SlideCrab, you can easily add a group of still images into stunning Flash slideshow with linkages, alternate text, watermark, navigation button and special transition effects.
SlideCrab has the same features as IMGOWL.It provides image protection for website, for those used to display portfolios of artworks and photographs in quality high resolution or some important photographs. It enables complete protection against image theft and the unauthorized linking of images from other websites. It transfers internal data with encryption, all stealing attempts are impossible.
SlideCrab fully supports Smarty template engine and enhances more functions on Smarty. With Propagator "One Tag Concept", SlideCrab has own smarty tags. You just write {slidecrab}{/slidecrab} container tags to contain a group of existent <img src="xx.jpg"> tags.It will capture all images' attibutes and their linkages in no time. You will see all images became Flash slideshow with protection. It's incredible. [Sample]
Make your image animated and safe for your website with SlideCrab now.
With Smarty, you just add slidecrab tags to contain your image set. it can generate automatically.

I agree with TGKnight in that these forums shouldn't be used to promote commercial software -- there are enough places to do that already.
Also, putting the exact same message (which is really an ad) in multiple forums is definately not warranted. Both of these related threads now live in the plugins forums which seems more appropriate than the addons forum. |

Hi,boots, you're my idol ,I am so sorry to make trouble for you , however I disagree with your opinion. I provide free trial download for slidecrab and imgowl. And I tried my best to promote Smarty Engine in my product , you can read their manual.
Actually I love Smarty and I tried my best to promote Smarty. My every product can runs with Smarty as a great plugins. Why I can't recommed them to Smarty's Users?
That's not a pure AD. you know? that's my spirit! _________________ Joey

Hi,Filipino, please try and read its manual carefully before judge my product. Trial version has no time limited and you can add caption text with IMGOWL watermark in Trial version, too. _________________ Joey

Hi Joey.
First, I really am glad to see that you are still making and supporting products that use Smarty. I think it is great whenever someone thinks that Smarty is useful for them and then makes something cool with it. Also, I have no problems with commercial products that leverage Smarty -- quite the contrary! So I hope you are not discouraged by the comments.
As for the forums, I see them as a community resource where users can come to share their knowledge of Smarty so that we can all help each other make cool products. As a result, the 3rd party software that is promoted here has always been open sourced and I think that that is natural considering the purpose for these forums.
I do think you bring up a good point, though, because commercial solutions can also be useful to other Smarty users. To that end, I think it would be a good idea if there was a marketplace that showcased all types of Smarty based products -- commercial or otherwise. So far, that effort has been limited to a wiki page which suffers from having a fairly low profile.
As it is, we just don't have something like that here at the forums with the exception of the Showcase forum which has traditionally been intended to showcase Smarty based sites. I suppose that if there is enough interest for it, we can create a forum specifically for commercial products. Unfortunately, I personally don't have much interest in spending my time to moderating such a forum (after all, this is volunteer work for me). That said, if someone is willing to step up to the plate and come up with a way to showcase Smarty based projects I could see myself being willing to help out with that.
I wish all developers here continued successes in building cool solutions and products that use Smarty. My preference, though, is to try to keep the discussions here based on solutions that everyone can freely share -- ie: open sourced products.
All the best! |
