I am going crazy here. My templates won't recompile (probably server upgrade). I uploaded the latest smarty files and same. I can toggle the error by setting compile_check to true which sends the browser to Pear smarty_compiler.class with my domain/index.html as the site. The odd thing is that it all works fine and compiles on my local testing server. Is this a problem with my hosting company? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Like all good accidents there were multiple issues here. In as few words this is what I did wrong.

1) I downloaded a new smarty.compiler.class from Pear and by mistake downloaded the entire page in html.
2) I put this in another directory that was the one smarty was pulling from due to suphp configuration.
3) The one in my current directory was not being used.

I copied the correct one over the bad version and viola!

Not sure to feel stupid for doing it or clever for solving it. Anyway, all part of the learning process.
