|
|
Many years ago we used 'tidy' which is an HTML parser/cleaner/optimizer/minifier. Unfortunately, at around 2008 the project died away and web standards moved on to HTML5, which is not supported by tidy, thus tidy itself became deprecated and unusable.
Fortunately, the tidy project has moved on, it was updated (new website, moved to github) and now fully supports HTML5 and many other current web technologies.
Project homepage: http://www.html-tidy.org/
Would it be possible to allow Smarty to use the new tidy 5.0, to run when {strip} is used within templates? Maybe as a plugin extension, or officially support tidy?
What do you guys think? |

I think that what you are requesting is not quite the purpose of {strip} block.
You CAN, of course, write a wrapper/modifier that runs template output through tidy for post-processing, shouldn't be too hard of a task. |

A tidy plugin would be useful. I doubt we want to support/maintain it within the Smarty distro itself, but a github repo with the plugin would be a good thing to contribute! |
