can anyone help me in updating smarty from old files? i am new to smarty dont know much and tutorials didnt helped.

i want to update to latest smarty 3.1.33

It should just work, unless you are upgrading from Smarty2.
In which case, read *NOTES documents from https://github.com/smarty-php/smarty/tree/v3.1.33 and tweak your code to follow best practices.
