Because you did something wrong.
Check your webserver logs, check the filesystem access rights, check that your filesystem has enough storage space, etc. |

filesystem got enough storage space. Access right for folder cache/templates_c is 755. file permission is 644
however, this issue will happen sometime. Please check the following picture
got many blank cache file with 666. When cache file is blank, then user unable to access website with blank cache file. So user need to clear browser cache and can regenerate new cache file.
I searched WebServer logs that i cannot see any errors from the above happened time |

755 what? 644 what? Apples? Oranges?
POSIX access mode is useless without knowing file owner and group, and EUID of accessing process.
Either way, POSIX filesystem basics is not a Smarty question. |

os is linux centos. however, got suphp installed and hence requires all file permission is 644, folder permission is 755. I understand it is not smarty question. Any idea to know which can cause the blank cache issue? |

i think issue maybe caused by php warning error. It can disturb smarty cache and return cache page issue. after modified php warning error, then the issue should be resolved as well. thanks. |

suphp is useful for enhancing security for user file access. our server will not not only shared by one website. It maybe hosted by different user website and required to be accessed by different user. Hence, one user unable to access other folder which owned by another user.
now, our server using PHP-FPM. upgraded from suphp. PHP-FPM can easy to handle process limit for one website. |

It's useless, as PHP FPM already provides this functionality. |
