After have changed one and another I get next error message:

"Fatal error: Smarty error: [in guestbook.tpl line 9]: [plugin] modifier 'escape' is not implemented (core.load_plugins.php, line 118) in path_ to ...\smarty\libs\Smarty.class.php on line 1093"

I wonder if I changed things wrong but I don't find an answer in the docs for all errors I get. E.g. I added myself the path for SMART_CORE_DIR in index.php.

It looks like Smarty cannot find the plugins_dir. Do any of your plugins work?

I never had problems with any plugin. There is nex in my .php file:

$smarty->plugins_dir = $path.'\smarty\libs\plugins';

Isn't that enough to make them work?

you shouldn't have to set the SMARTY_CORE_DIR. Just set SMARTY_DIR, or just include the Smarty.class.php file and it will set itself.
