Hi there,
I am starting to develop my own CMS. As a template engine I would like to use Smarty, and since version 3 is already in Beta 7, I am curious if its already in a stage where it can be used properly.
I'm simply trying to avoid to rewrite a big part of my CMS when Smarty 3 final gets released.
So question, Smarty 2 for now and then rewrite the CMS when v3 gets released? Or start using v3 already and keep using the latest betas?
My CMS is a small project used for my own customers and will not be made public. |

If you start with Smarty 3 beta, I would not foresee any need for major rewriting by the time Smarty 3 is released. However, using Smarty 3 beta in a published product is your own risk (although many have been, even since alpha.) |

We've started developing new version of our website (quite popular search engine) based on Smarty 3 alpha a while ago.
Of course it is not 100% stable yet, but so far the quality of code was very good - no major issues.
Thumbs up for such a good work guys! |
