Hi!

Any suggestions for a CVS tutorial? I want to learn the "best" way of keeping a library of patches that can be applied to the current CVS of a file. What do people normally do? Create a series of diffs against a known release, diff the current CVS version against the release and then apply all of the patches against the fixed release version? It seems to me that it might be difficult to get a working build of the file using this method Confused

Or do people keep a local CVS server with their private branches? I'm willing to do the reading so if someone can provide some useful pointers....

Thanks in advance.

For CVS documentation not much beats http://www.cvshome.org/docs/manual/cvs.html. As for the method of development I would only work with releases if you plan to release your patch to the general community, since most don't run a CVS version. I also setup a local CVS where I have it pull, on cron, CVS sources for projects like Smarty and I usually work from there if its for internal development and not for the general public.
