Hey,
A problem I found is that mkdir does not always set the "right" permission due to umask. The permission on files works fine (due to chmod).
When I've changed the $_dir_perms to 0777 (yes, I know, quite dangerous, but required), Smarty still creates directories with permission 755. I need to add a umask(0) before creating directories in order to get the "real" permission I needed. Yes, I did remember to reset to umask.
I don't know if the developer intened to make directories that follow the umask rule. But i need the permission to 777 so Smarty can write files to the directory since script is ran as the user "nobody" (and I do not belong to that group). |

maybe it's worth an faq entry, but honoring the umask is 100% correct behaviour for smarty (as for any other php-lib/thing/application). |
