I changed to a newer php version with php.ini register_globals set to Off (was previosly set On). Now I wonder if I should set smarty's $request_use_auto_globals = false? But this setting advises to use true when using $_XXX type of request variables (which I do now with register_globals Off in php.ini).

So I am a little confused? How does this smarty setting relate to php.ini register_globals?

TIA, gawan

Just leave it set to true, use the $_* super globals. This setting is for very old PHP versions which do not support super globals.
